How Covve protects your data

The contacts you capture are your business relationships. Here's how they're held.

Certifications, hosting and compliance documents

Certifications, hosting locations, encryption, the sub-processor list, the Data Processing Agreement and the full schedule of technical measures are all in one place: Security certifications and compliance documents.

Where your contacts live

Captured contacts are stored on your device and, when you have an account, backed up to it. That backup is what lets you restore them on a new phone. See Backing up and restoring your contacts.

Without an account, contacts stay on the device and are not backed up anywhere.

What we keep, and for how long

Log data held on Covve's systems is deleted automatically after 30 days.

When you delete your account, everything saved to it is removed. See Delete your account and data.

Your data rights

Delete your data yourself

The fastest route, and it needs nobody's help: delete your account in the app. Everything saved to it is removed.

See Delete your account and data for exactly what goes, what stays on your phone, and the 30-day log retention.

Deleting is permanent, and a data request is not a way to recover something afterwards

Ask for anything else

For anything the app does not do, a copy of your data, a correction, a question about how it is processed, or deletion when you cannot sign in to do it yourself, email support@covve.com.

Include your user ID and the address on the account.

If you hold someone else's details

A business card scanner holds other people's personal data, which carries obligations:

  • You need a lawful basis for capturing and holding someone's contact details. Covve gives you the tool; the lawful basis is yours.

  • Sharing with a team means sharing personal data. Covve asks you to confirm you have consent when you create a team, and that confirmation is not a formality.

  • What you export leaves Covve's protections. A CSV on a laptop is only as safe as the laptop.

  • Deletion requests from a contact are yours to action, not Covve's. You hold the relationship and made the record. Find them in Covve and delete them. See Deleting contacts.
